Hi! I'm Lisa Bathe and I'm excited to be an educator involved in helping others Make the Virtual Classroom a Reality. I earned my MOT in the spring of 2004. I have taught an eclectic mix of online courses: Management Theory and Practice for Franklin University; U.S. Labor History, American History, and Human Resource Management for the City Colleges of Chicago; as well as Online Learning: An Overview, Student Assessment, and Instructional Design for ION. I have also developed and taught Using Computers in Education and Western Civilization from 1500-1815 for Kankakee Community College and Using Technology in Education and Human Resources Management for Heartland Community College. I have a bachelor's degree in history education from Western Illinois University, a master's degree in labor and industrial relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master's degree in history from Sam Houston State University and have earned 20 graduate credits in education from the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Online courses offer instructors and students the opportunity to convert introductory level courses, typically taught in a lecture format in the classroom, into a more interactive seminar experience. Discussion becomes the center of learning and no one can sit in the back of the room. This enables the instructor to create more engaging learning activities and to help the students see the real world applications to the material being covered. Education is not just imparting knowledge to students, but providing an environment rich in learning and allowing students the chance to grow as a result of the educational experience. Online courses are an excellent vehicle for this student evolution. I look forward to further exploring this dynamic class environment with each of you!
